Biomed Industries, Inc. (Biomed) announced today that it has engaged a leading global Contract Research Organization (CRO) to conduct the Company’s Phase 2B trial of NA-831, its breakthrough treatment for Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). The Clinical Trial will take place in over 30 locations in 7 countries worldwide.
In a Phase 2A Randomized Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled clinical trial, NA-831 was shown to have halted cognitive decline in patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and Mild to Moderate AD. To date, it is the only treatment to have shown that level of efficacy, while also exhibiting few, and minor, adverse events.
NA-831 was developed under a novel approach known as the Neurogenesis Hypothesis. NA-831 serves as a catalyst to restore neurogenesis by increasing the expression of BDNF (brain derived neurotrophic factor). Alzheimer’s patients under treatment demonstrated higher numbers of neuroblasts leading to improved cognitive function.
